چکیده

First of all, we would like to appreaciate your deep interest in our case report. Fortunately, we have a previous electrocardiogram (ECG) of the patient before the symptom onset (Fig. 1). And we did check the serial ECGs during the admission. At initial admission, there were no prominent ST and voltage changes in precordial leads (Fig. 2). Follow-up ECG taken after 3 hours from the first ECG showed slight ST elevations of precordial leads (Fig. 3). The ECG findings seem to be consistent with low QRS voltage criteria of Takotsubo syndrome of the previous report. During hospital days 2 (Fig. 4) and 3 (Fig. 5), serial ECGs showed progressive worsening of previous low QRS voltages in all leads. On the 14th day of admission, QRS voltages in precordial limb leads became bigger with pISSN 1975-4612 / eISSN 2005-9655 Copyright © 2016 Korean Society of Echocardiography www.kse-jcu.org

Management of an acute catecholamine-induced cardiomyopathy and circulatory collapse: a multidisciplinary approach

A phaeochromocytoma (PC) is a rare, catecholamine-secreting neuroendocrine tumour arising from the adrenal medulla. Presenting symptoms of this rare tumour are highly variable but life-threatening multiorgan dysfunction can occur secondary to catecholamine-induced hypertension or hypotension and subsequent cardiovascular collapse. High levels of circulating catecholamines can induce an acute st...

Stress-Induced Cardiomyopathy Presenting as Shock.

Stress-induced cardiomyopathy has become a more recognized and reported entity. It can be caused by emotional or physical stress, which causes excessive catecholamine release. Typically, the clinical course is benign with conservative treatment being effective. However, stress-induced cardiomyopathy can be fatal. A 41-year-old female presented with cardiogenic shock followed by sudden back pain...

Effects of β-Estradiol on Enhanced Conditioned Fear Induced by Single Prolonged Stress and Shock in Rats

Introduction:This study examined the effects of administration of subcutaneous β-estradiol on PTSD-like symptoms (the enhanced conditioned fear response, CFR) that induced by a single-prolonged stress (SPS) and shock in rats. Adult male Wistar rats were exposed to SPS procedure: restraint for 2 h, forced swim for 20 min, and ether anesthesia. Then the rats were placed in fear conditioning syste...

Involvement of reductive stress in the cardiomyopathy in transgenic mice with cardiac-specific overexpression of heat shock protein 27.

Oxidative stress plays an important role in cardiac diseases, which has been well demonstrated, whereas the role of reductive stress has been poorly investigated. We and others have shown previously that heat shock protein 27 (Hsp27) plays a role as an antioxidant. To investigate whether overexpression of Hsp27 could lead to reductive stress and result in cardiomyopathy, we generated transgenic...
